Cool Beans! My son a freshman in College, this summer he enjoyed many days playing with his Lego's. ADD Porn? Self medicating more like it. I suspect when he comes home in a week he will spend days of his winter break playing with his Lego's. I always felt they were great for his imagination. I'm looking forward to him using that creativity is his chosen area of study: Mechanical Engineering.

My seven year old was diagnosed with ADD last year, her Dad also has ADHD. She loves Legos! But I never thought to use them as a type of behavior therapy! I'm so glad to have found your blog on pinterest. I will be adding you to the growing list of things to read on a daily basis. Thanks!!

"I gave the file to my psychologist; he gave me the ADD/ADHD stamp of approval in return … and I’m afraid not much else. Confused and unsure where to turn, the only thing I was sure of was that I needed to get to the bottom of my “disability.”

Why did you call it a disability? I am 56 and I never thought of my ADD as a disability.

I have the exact same problem with my teen daughter. She actually likes to read, but due to the fact she is ADD she looses focus rapidly therefore cannot seem to finish books.

Thanks for coming to Somerset Middle School today!!! Great job today! You were very inspiring and caught my attention right away with the way you opened the speech! I especially like the smelly markers part! I think this would be a great idea and opportunity for Mike Rowe. I would totally watch that episode! It would be funny to watch the way he would mess it up! That's why i enjoy watching Dirt Jobs, to see what he messes up and what he doesn't. If you do get him to come and do this with you, see if you can come back to somerset middle school (if its still this year) and if its next year, Somerset High School. I would really enjoy to watch that in person, you and mike having a chalk-off or something (like the 2 of you doing a separate canvas, and see who's is better) Good luck to you!!!!

To commenter above: it's quite comforting to find someone who struggles with writing slow like me. I constantly have ideas moving through my ADHD head but am usually too slow to write them down. I've always been the slowest writers in my class and remember being on the first or second sentence while most the students were asking the teacher to put the next slide on the projector. I'm also in college and though I still struggle with writing slow I no longer associate it with stupidity.

Anyways, let me know if you found/find anything!
